Jesus has called us all to “come to Him”. He wants us to go to Him and not turn away to this world (which we often do). He wants us to have a relationship with Him. Jesus goes further to say that He will give us rest! He knows this life is difficult and hardships are inevitable due to sin, but He wants to be who we turn to in times of trouble.
He also goes on to say that we should take his yoke. Jesus is referencing a farming tool where 2 oxen would be joined together to do a task. Instead of us doing the task ourselves or even sharing the load evenly, He will do it for us! He actually already has, He died for our sins and defeated death for us. We no longer have to try to earn our way to heaven or carry the burdens of this life alone! When we can remember this, we will find rest for our souls!
