Abide in the Will of God, Not the World

• What does “abides” mean?
• How do we know if the love of the Father is in us?
• Make a list of things that fit in the 3 loves of the world: Desires of the flesh, desires of the eyes, and pride in possessions:
• Which of the 3 loves of the world entice you the most? Why?
• Is there anything you long for more than obeying God and abiding with Him? (acceptance, control, superficial peace, shopping, eating, addictions 
• How does “doing the will of God” relate to being in deep intimacy and fellowship with God? 

Take time to invite the Holy Spirit to evaluate your heart. Like King David, ask, “Search my heart and see if there be any wayward way in me” (Psalm 139). Confess and repent of things He brings to your mind. Receive His forgiveness. Ask the Father to reveal His love for you in a deep way. Ask Him to help you control your passions for the things of this world that distract you from intimacy with Him. Surrender to Him areas where you have loved the world more than Him.
