The Will of God: Part 2Sample

The Will of God: Part 2

DAY 14 OF 15

Jesus Submitted to the Father's Will, Even Though He Wanted a Different Plan

  • How is it if both Jesus and God the Father were both God, that in this moment, they seemed to have different wills/desires?
  • Does this mean having a different desire than God's is a sin? Why or why not?
  • What was Jesus feeling? Did you ever feel like that and wish God’s will was to change the circumstances?
  • How many times did Jesus go to the Father to share what His own desires were? How badly did He want there to be another way?
  • What does this show about us being able to go to God to share our will and desires in life? Are we allowed to do that or is it wrong? Why?
  • In Jesus’ conversations with the Father, what did He always include in His prayer?
  • What did Jesus care about more: His will or the Father’s will? What do we care about more?
  • What is the one prayer Jesus asked His three disciples to pray?
  • When were they most tempted? What temptation was coming their way? (Read further in the chapter if you don’t know the story.)
  • Did they give in to temptation? How might have being intentional to watch and pray prevented that?

God wants us to be honest with Him about our longings, fears and desires. We are allowed to go to Him about those things. Take time to do so now, but with a posture of submitting to His will in the end. Take time to pray against ways you might be tempted to run away from Him, deny Him, or believe lies that He doesn’t care or love you. Choose to end your time in praise and thanks for His will for your life.
