“It is pride to say that my limitations are bigger than God‘s ability to do something supernatural in and through my life.”
-Christine Caine, Passion 2019
No one likes to be called out, but Christine Caine calls us all out with this one. We say, “I could never do that” or “I’m not qualified for this” and may truly believe it’s humility speaking, and yet what Scripture helps us realize is that the root of such doubts is an obsession with self that insults an Almighty God.
Of course, we have limitations - we live in a sin-broken world with sin-broken bodies. But, we were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27)! Yes, we are flawed and imperfect, but we serve a God who has no limitations (Isaiah 40:28), and that limitless God loves you - His imperfect creation.
To say our limits - could prevent our all-powerful God from accomplishing His work in our lives is not only prideful, but it is also oppositional to the Word of God itself. Scripture says that in our weakness His strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9).
When Moses doubted he could lead the Israelites to their freedom, God’s rebuttal was simple: “I will be with you” (Exodus 3:12). Maybe we don’t have to know any more than that. He is with us. He has always been. And He will go with us for the rest of our days and then into our limitless future in Forever with Him.
