Who Is God: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
He created the sky
So how’s your day going so far? I hope your day is going better than Monday, October 19, 1987. On Wall Street they call it Black Monday because the stock market crash that day was the largest in history. Twenty-two percent of the worth of the Dow Jones stocks evaporated in a matter of hours.
Take just a minute and remember what God did for you on the very first Monday in human history--he created the sky. “And God said, ‘Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.’ So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. God called the expanse ‘sky.’ And there was evening, and there was morning--the second day” (Genesis 1:6-8).
Our lovely planet is surrounded by a blue canopy filled with things we need: warmth, oxygen, and moisture. If your day isn’t so hot, stop looking down. Go outside and look up. Marvel at God’s creative wisdom and skill. God must love people!
