Who Is God: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
God invented trees and flowers
I hope your day is going better than Tuesday, October 29, 1929. On Wall Street they still call it Black Tuesday because on that day there was a financial panic. In a selling frenzy, investors lost 14 billion dollars, a colossal amount in 1929. Some call this the beginning of the Great Depression of the ’30s.
How would you rate your day? Hmm . . . got some problems on your mind, huh? Tell you what, pick up some flowers today. It was on a Tuesday that God invented trees and flowers. “Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning--the third day” (Genesis 1:11-13).
What spectacular design! What clever engineering! God must love us a lot to let us live in such beauty. The God who lavished such care on his design in that first week wants to be in your life too.
