Who Is God: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
God invented birds
I hope your day is going better than Thursday, October 24, 1929. On Wall Street they call it Black Thursday because of the massive loss of investor confidence, brutal stock sell off, and ensuing bank failures. The Great Depression had begun.
So how’s your day going? Are you experiencing any loss of confidence in your worth as a person? Tell you what, go outside and look around. Can you see any birds? It was on a Thursday that God invented birds. “And God said, ‘Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.’ So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:20,21).
What imagination and skill God used in making these creatures of beauty and grace! Jesus once said, “Not a sparrow can fall without God’s knowledge and permission. You are worth more than many sparrows.” That same loving God wants to be in your life.
