Prayer and Hearing God’s Voice
Prayer isn’t a performance. It’s a conversation with your Father. Jesus didn’t give us a script to impress God; He gave us a pattern to connect with Him.
Come honestly.
Ask boldly.
Listen expectantly.
God isn’t distant or hard to reach. He’s closer than you think, and He actually wants to speak to you. John 10:27 says His sheep hear His voice. That includes you. You don’t need to be a pastor or a theologian. You just need to come. Bring your anxiety, your questions, your mess and trust that He hears every word.
Matthew 6:5–13
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
"This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'"
Philippians 4:6–7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
John 10:27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
1 John 5:14–15
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of him.
