DAY 4 OF 10

Learning to Yield

What does it look like, in real life, to let God shape you?

Paul writes about “renewal by the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5). That renewal doesn’t happen all at once. It unfolds over time.

There’s a partnership here. God is at work, but we are not passive.

Paul expresses confidence in this process: “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” (Philippians 1:6, NIV)

And yet, we are also called to respond. To cooperate. To yield.

Yielding isn’t dramatic most of the time. It looks like small decisions; choosing patience instead of reacting, choosing honesty instead of avoiding something, choosing to forgive when it would be easier to hold onto frustration.

These are the places where we must invite and allow the Spirit to shape us.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Paul talks about God sanctifying us “through and through.” That’s a whole-life process.

The challenge is that we often want change quickly, while God is often working steadily.

Learning to yield means paying attention and responding, even when it feels small or slow. Over time, those small responses form a life.

Reflection & Practice:
Think about one area of your life where you sense God might be prompting change. Don’t overcomplicate it, just name it honestly.

This week, practice responding in that one area. Keep it simple and consistent. At the end of each day, take a moment to reflect: Did I respond to that prompting today?

About this Plan

Built Different

We were made for more and created to live differently. We are not just forgiven, we are being formed. Through the gospel, God makes us new and calls us to reflect Jesus in the way we live and love. This Bible plan explores how salvation is not the finish line, but the starting point of a transformed life.
