DAY 2 OF 10

A Pure Heart Sees Clearly

Do you think the way you see people is always accurate?

When Paul talks about purity, he’s not just talking about outward behaviour. He connects it to how we see things!

“To the pure, all things are pure.” (Titus 1:15, NIV)

And Jesus says: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Matthew 5:8, NIV)

There’s a link between the condition of our hearts and the way we interpret what’s around us.

If we’re honest, it’s easy to read into situations. We can assume motives, take things the wrong way, or see people through our own filters. Sometimes that comes from past experiences, sometimes from what we’ve been focusing on.

As God works in us, that inner space starts to shift. We become a bit less reactive, a bit less suspicious, a bit more able to take things at face value. There’s more clarity.

That doesn’t mean ignoring reality or pretending everything is perfect. It just means we’re not constantly reading the worst into everything.

Proverbs puts it simply: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23, NIV)

What we let shape our thinking matters. What we dwell on matters. Over time, those things influence how we see people and situations.

As that steadiness grows, we start to notice God more clearly in everyday moments; in people, in conversations, and in situations we might have overlooked before.

Reflection & Practice:
Pay attention today to how you’re interpreting people or situations. Notice where you might be assuming the worst.

For the next few days, try a simple practice: before reacting to someone, pause and ask, “What’s another way I could understand this?” Let that question slow you down and shape your response.

About this Plan

Built Different

We were made for more and created to live differently. We are not just forgiven, we are being formed. Through the gospel, God makes us new and calls us to reflect Jesus in the way we live and love. This Bible plan explores how salvation is not the finish line, but the starting point of a transformed life.
