The Conscience!Sample

The Conscience as an Alarm Within
The conscience functions like an alarm bell within the human spirit. Clear, persistent, and impossible to ignore when it is healthy. Each time we are about to do wrong, or after we have done wrong, it sounds off within us, warning, correcting, and drawing our attention to what is not aligned with God’s standard.
Like an alarm clock that keeps ringing until it is attended to, the conscience continues to “blare” until a response is made. When we respond promptly with obedience, choosing what is right and turning away from wrong, we preserve the sensitivity and purity of our conscience. It remains sharp, active, and reliable.
However, when we repeatedly ignore or suppress this inward alarm, we begin to dull its voice. Over time, disobedience weakens the conscience, rendering it less effective and eventually defiled. What once troubled us deeply may no longer move us at all, not because it is right, but because our conscience has been desensitized.
The life of King Saul provides a sobering example. He continually ignored the promptings and corrections that came to him, choosing instead his own way over God’s instruction. In doing so, he silenced the alarm within his spirit, and the consequence was severe; he lost the throne, not only for himself but for his lineage.
This teaches a vital truth: obedience to the voice of conscience is far safer and far less costly than attempting to compensate for disobedience through outward acts of sacrifice. No amount of external offering can replace a heart that is attentive and yielded to God.
A responsive conscience keeps a man aligned with God, preserves his destiny, and safeguards his walk. But a neglected conscience can lead to gradual spiritual ruin. Therefore, it is wise to heed the alarm quickly while it is still sounding.

About this Plan

The Conscience. The spirit of the believer is not passive or dormant; it is alive and functional, designed by God to carry out three vital operations: intuition, conscience, and communion. These are the channels through which the human spirit interacts with divine realities, discerns truth, and maintains alignment with God’s will. In this series, our focus will be on the conscience, that inward witness that bears testimony to what is right or wrong. The conscience serves as a moral compass within the believer, guiding decisions, affirming righteousness, and warning against error. Let's dive in!
