The Conscience!

DAY 5 OF 8

The Conscience and Spiritual Sensitivity

As stated earlier, the spirit of a regenerated man carries out three vital functions:

  • Intuition — the faculty through which God communicates with man.
  • Communion — the avenue through which man fellowships and communes with God.
  • Conscience — the inward witness through which God reproves evil and approves what is good.

These three are deeply interconnected, but it is important to understand that the accuracy of intuition and the depth of communion are largely dependent on the state of the conscience.

When the conscience is pure, sensitive, and rightly aligned before God, it creates a clean and unobstructed environment within the spirit. In such a state, it becomes much easier to discern God’s voice through intuition and to engage meaningfully in fellowship through communion. There is clarity, boldness, and freedom in relating with God.

However, when the conscience is defiled, weak, or burdened with guilt, it introduces distortion and interference. The ability to hear God becomes clouded, and communion loses its depth and sincerity. A troubled conscience often results in hesitation, distance, and spiritual dullness.

In essence, the health of the conscience directly affects the believer’s spiritual sensitivity. A right conscience sharpens perception and strengthens fellowship, while a compromised conscience hinders both.

Therefore, if a man desires to grow in hearing God clearly and communing with Him deeply, he must give careful attention to maintaining a clean, tender conscience and continually aligning with God’s truth.

About this Plan

The Conscience!

The Conscience. The spirit of the believer is not passive or dormant; it is alive and functional, designed by God to carry out three vital operations: intuition, conscience, and communion. These are the channels through which the human spirit interacts with divine realities, discerns truth, and maintains alignment with God’s will. In this series, our focus will be on the conscience, that inward witness that bears testimony to what is right or wrong. The conscience serves as a moral compass within the believer, guiding decisions, affirming righteousness, and warning against error. Let's dive in!
