Have you ever tried to find your way without directions? Maybe you were in a new city, trying to get to a tourist destination. Or maybe you were on your way out of town and navigating without your Google Maps. Maybe you genuinely thought you knew where you were going on a walk, only to end up totally and completely lost.
The reality is this is often how we navigate our faith. We believe in Jesus, we trust Him to guide us, and we follow Him with our lives. But when push comes to shove, we still fall back on our old ways. We try to do things in our own way. We try to change our thoughts and behaviors with our own understanding. The result? We usually end up lost! That’s because only God can help renew our minds and change our thinking. Following His way and His way alone can help us get unstuck. Leaning on our own understanding will never get us as far forward as we think it will. But trusting in the Lord with all our hearts to do what He said He could do—to renew our minds—is how we walk forward in faith and freedom.
Pay attention this week to how you try to lean on your own understanding. Pray that God would help you trust in Him in those moments instead.

About this Plan

We’re all trying to navigate our way forward in this world, and yet, somehow, we tend to get stuck along the way and in more ways than one. And when that happens, we may start to believe that things will never change. In this devotional, we’ll explore the healthy ways in which we can seek freedom from the people, emotions, habits, and more that make us feel stuck. As we do, we’ll see that it’s only in Christ that we can be truly free.
