Sometimes we can feel powerless to change both our thoughts and our habits. Maybe we’ve struggled with the same negative thought pattern for years, and at this point, it feels like it will never stop. Or maybe we’ve had the same unhealthy habit for the last several years, and breaking it just doesn’t seem like something we can do anymore. Maybe we’ve tried everything in our power to redirect our minds or change our behaviors, but at the end of the day, we still feel stuck.
The good news? We aren’t as stuck as we think we are! As Paul’s letter to Timothy reminds us, we have more strength, power, and discipline than we even know. That’s because, as followers of Jesus, we have access to His Spirit. And that Spirit gives us everything we need—all the power, all the love, and all the discipline—to change our thinking and, in turn, change our behavior. Because of that, we don’t have to rely on our own abilities to do the impossible. Instead, we can ask the Holy Spirit in us to change us from the inside out.
This week, memorize this verse, and come back to it every time you need help changing your thinking and the habits that follow it.

About this Plan

We’re all trying to navigate our way forward in this world, and yet, somehow, we tend to get stuck along the way and in more ways than one. And when that happens, we may start to believe that things will never change. In this devotional, we’ll explore the healthy ways in which we can seek freedom from the people, emotions, habits, and more that make us feel stuck. As we do, we’ll see that it’s only in Christ that we can be truly free.
