StuckSample

One of the most difficult parts of the human experience is navigating the pain, hurt, and disappointment that inevitably enter our lives. When our circumstances change, when challenges come our way, when we face unexpected roadblocks, when struggles seem never-ending—those moments aren’t easy to navigate for anyone. If we’re not careful, they can leave us feeling stuck in the feelings that come with them. The pain, the heartache, the depression, the frustration, the hurt—nobody wants to stay in those places forever, do they?
The reality is this is part of what it means to live in this fallen world. Jesus Himself told us as much in Scripture. While our faith can’t offer us a magical path forward that allows us to bypass pain, it can offer us something that will help us get unstuck and stay unstuck from those emotions. And that is the presence of God with us in all we feel. As the Psalmist reminds us here, the Lord is close to us always, but especially when we feel brokenhearted or crushed. That presence alone is reason to feel relief! But with that, He also promises to save us from those feelings. That what we feel when we’re crushed isn’t what we’ll feel forever. That the saving, loving presence of Christ is where we can turn to find relief. It’s where we can find a way forward when we feel stuck.
Memorize this verse to remind you of the presence and comfort of Christ that is there through whatever you feel.

About this Plan

We’re all trying to navigate our way forward in this world, and yet, somehow, we tend to get stuck along the way and in more ways than one. And when that happens, we may start to believe that things will never change. In this devotional, we’ll explore the healthy ways in which we can seek freedom from the people, emotions, habits, and more that make us feel stuck. As we do, we’ll see that it’s only in Christ that we can be truly free.
