This Is WhySample

These three words in Scripture may seem simple and almost insignificant at first glance. Out of context, they read like a short and sweet invitation of sorts. But in context, we realize the weight of these words all the more. Philip had just told his friend Nathanael about the Person of Jesus. Their long-awaited Savior had finally arrived. And honestly, that simple conversation alone would’ve been good enough. If Philip had stopped there, the message still would’ve been shared, and Nathanael still would’ve known about Jesus’ arrival.
But Philip took it one step further. He didn’t just want Nathanael to know about Jesus; he wanted him to experience Jesus firsthand. To come and see the Son of God for himself. Because Philip likely knew something that could help us as we share today. It’s one thing to talk about Jesus; it’s another thing to experience Him. It’s in our real experiences with God that we find our faith grown and our hearts changed. So, it’s imperative that we not only recognize the ways we’re experiencing God in our lives but that we invite others to do the same: to come and see what this faith we have is really all about.
This week, create a list of your experiences with God. Write down how you’re experiencing Him at work in your life this week. Then, share it with someone else as a way of encouraging them to “come and see.”

About this Plan

We’ve all had those experiences that are so real and impactful to us that we want other people to know about them, too. More than just telling the people in our lives about it, we want them to feel it, to get it, to care about it, and even experience it the way we do. And for followers of Jesus, our faith is a message of hope we simply can’t keep to ourselves. In this devotional, we’re going to look at what it means to share the gospel of Jesus with the world around us.
