Potential Learning Opportunities (Part 2)
5 – Commitment to Character (become like Jesus)
Google or use AI for a list of character qualities. Choose one that applies to your life challenge that you can learn to apply during this time. Ask AI how Jesus demonstrated that character quality, ask for a Bible reference, look it up, and talk to Him about it. Ask how other people in the Bible honored or violated the character quality for more depth and insight. This can give you some ideas to apply to your life challenge.
“Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ – 2 Peter 1:5-8 (NIV).
6 – In All Things Give Thanks
It is easy to express our love to God when things are going well. It is music to His ears when we actively love Him during the hard times. When it costs us something.
Find a verse in the Psalms or a hymn or praise song and say it out loud to Him, even if it is through tears, fears, or anger. This will touch His heart. I personally like to reassure Him that I am not going anywhere, regardless of what painful or challenging life experiences He allows in my life.
“I will sing the Lord’s praise, for He has been good to me.” – Psalm 13:6 (NIV).
7– Love and Encourage Others (2nd Greatest Commandment)
While it is extremely valuable to apply one of the above options, it is also important to apply what you are learning and share it with others, at home first. Our family and those in our path need love and encouragement from you. They may be going through similar life challenges, and you can share presence, comfort, and hope with them.
Keep in mind that it may be easier to invest in those outside your household, which is good; however, it keeps your faith real and grounded if you start at home first.
“Love one another deeply from the heart.” – 1 Peter 1:22b (NIV).
“Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today” – Hebrews 3:13a (NIV).
