DAY 5 OF 7

Potential Learning Opportunities (Part 1)

Below are the 7 potential learning opportunities available to choose from to help us learn and grow through life challenges. We will cover 4 of these in Day 5 and the remaining 3 in Day 6.

1 – Unhurried (your love relationship with Jesus)

Spend some time with Jesus this week, every single day. Guard that time of the day as your most precious priority and treasure of the day. Treat this time like coffee with a friend. Learn to enjoy the pleasure of His company. Ask Him to help you with this since it may feel a little weird at first. Share your pain, fear, and anger with Him. He deeply cares for you.

“But as for me, it is good to be near God.” – Psalm 73:28a (NIV).

2 – Soak Yourself in The Bible (God speaks to you)

If you have a physical Bible, consider using it. If not, use the Bible app. If you are not sure where to begin, I highly recommend going to Psalms or Proverbs. Try reading just one chapter and ask God for a key verse that you can discuss with Him. Psalms will help you with your relationship with God and will validate your emotions through life challenges. Proverbs will help in your responses to life challenges and your relationship with people.

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful – Joshua 1:8 (NIV).

3 – Prayer – (You speaking to God)

Share your heart with God. Cry out to Him on behalf of other people who are also experiencing difficult life challenges. If you are not praying for other people, who is? If not now, when will you?

Please keep in mind that God reserves the right to say “Yes”, “No”, or “Not Now” to your requests. He is not your genie in a bottle. He is not your magician. He is your loving Father. And your Father longs for you to share what is on your mind, in your heart, and your entire life with Him, and especially during your life challenges.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” – Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV).

4 – Love Gifts (exchange with Him)

This is my favorite part of my relationship with God. This is where you look for expressions of His love every single day, much like a person looks for pennies on the ground throughout the day at the gas station, the grocery stores, or when walking through the neighborhood. It can be certain words in a conversation, words in a song, or an unexpected kind act from someone. It is anything that brings a smile to your heart. Those who look will see these gifts of love from their Heavenly Father.

Then, as you learn to become givers to Christ, and not just consumers, you can give little love gifts back to Him throughout the day. It can be you spending time with Him, practicing His presence throughout the day, singing a worship song to Him, or sharing His love or goodness with another person that day.

Giving and receiving love gifts during life challenges will deepen your relationship with Him.

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” – Matthew 7:11 (NIV).

About this Plan

Why?

When life hits hard, we want answers. When the rest of the world tells us to "trust God", we have pain inside that needs processing. Let's run to Jesus with our questions and learn to develop a hope and love-filled relationship with The Answer while we are seeking answers.
