The Year of the Courageous

DAY 8 OF 21

Courage to Walk on Water

Reflection:

Faith rarely happens in comfortable places. The boat was safe, but it was never meant to be permanent. Peter’s story reminds us that courage always involves a step into the unknown.

Jesus didn’t calm the storm before calling Peter—He called him in the storm. That’s what courage looks like: obedience in uncertainty. The water was wild, the wind was real, and yet one word—Come—was enough for Peter to move.

You’ll never see miracles from the safety of the boat. The miracle was never in the walking; it was in the willingness. Peter walked on water because he moved toward the voice of Jesus instead of the sound of fear.

Courage in 2026 means getting out of whatever boat you’ve made comfortable. Maybe it’s fear, insecurity, or comfort itself. God is calling you to come closer, to walk where logic says you shouldn’t, and to trust that His word can hold you even when the waves rise.

Prayer:

Lord, give me courage to step out of what feels safe and follow Your voice. When fear tells me to stay where I am, remind me that faith requires movement. Help me trust that You’ll meet me on the water. Amen.
