The Divine Exchange: Trading Your Plans for God’s Purpose

DAY 13 OF 30

Walking Alone With God

There comes a season when God clears the room — not out of cruelty, but out of care. It’s the kind of season where friends are suddenly “busy,” calls slow down, and Heaven seems to have put you on a one-on-one mentorship program.

At first, I thought something was wrong. I tried to fix it — joined groups, filled my schedule, surrounded myself with people who clapped at the right times. But the applause couldn’t quiet the ache. It took me a while to realise that God had intentionally silenced the crowd so I could finally hear His voice without echoes.

Jacob, left alone at Peniel, just before he saw God face to face, wasn’t surrounded by servants, strategists, or even family — just him and divine destiny waiting in the dark.

In my own quiet space, I learned that solitude isn’t punishment; it’s preparation. It’s where God detoxes your heart from needing validation and teaches you to recognise His presence even when no one else is around.

Now, I cherish those quiet seasons. They’re not lonely anymore — they’re loaded with His presence. (Though, to be fair, I still occasionally tell Him, “Lord, You could add one or two humans back into this conversation.”)

Lesson
God sometimes isolates before He elevates. Don’t rush out of the quiet; that’s where your roots grow deep. When you learn to walk alone with Him, you’ll never walk alone again. Solitude with God is the sacred space where dependency turns into intimacy.
