What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditations

DAY 11 OF 29

Day 11: Peace Through Trust

  • Verses:
    • Proverbs 3:5–6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart... and he will make your paths straight."
    • John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you."
    • Psalm 56:3–4: "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you."
    • Isaiah 12:2: "Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid."
    • Romans 15:13: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him."
  • Reflection:

Trusting God’s sovereignty brings a peace that transcends circumstances. Jesus’ gift of peace, promised in John 14:27, is not like the world’s fleeting calm but a deep assurance rooted in His faithful care. Advent calls us to lean into this trust, letting go of fear and resting in His guidance. When we surrender control, His peace fills our hearts, shaping our decisions and calming our anxieties. This week let’s anchor our trust in the One who never fails.

  • Application:
    • Identify an area where fear hinders your trust in God. How can these verses strengthen your faith?
    • This week, practice trusting God by praying over a specific worry each day.
    • Journal about how His peace has steadied you in the past.
    • Share this peace with someone by offering to pray with them or sharing a story of God’s faithfulness, encouraging them to trust Him for their own peace.
  • Prayer:

Lord, help me trust You fully, finding peace in Your faithful care. In Jesus' name. Amen.

About this Plan

What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditations

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
