What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent MeditationsSample

Day 28: Love in Eternity
- Verses:
- 1 Corinthians 13:13: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
- Revelation 21:3: "God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them."
- Psalm 136:1: "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever."
- Romans 8:39: "Neither height nor depth... will be able to separate us from the love of God."
- 1 John 4:12: "If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."
- Reflection:
God’s eternal love secures our future with Him, as 1 Corinthians 13:13 declares love’s supremacy. Revelation 21:3 envisions God dwelling with us, fulfilling Psalm 136:1’s promise of enduring love. Romans 8:39 assures nothing can separate us from this love, and 1 John 4:12 shows God’s love perfected in us through loving others. Advent celebrates this eternal love, which anchors us now and forever, inspiring us to live in its light, confident in God’s unending presence and care for His people.
- Application:
- How does God’s eternal love give you confidence today?
- Today, meditate on Psalm 136:1, thanking God for His enduring love.
- Journal about how this love shapes your hope.
- Show this love by serving someone selflessly, reflecting 1 John 4:12.
- Share this eternal promise with someone through a conversation about God’s love, encouraging them to trust in it.
- Take one step, like praying for a loved one, to live out this love, letting it guide your actions and relationships.
- Prayer:
Eternal God, thank You for Your unending love. May I live in it now and forever. In Jesus' name. Amen.
About this Plan

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
