What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditations

DAY 13 OF 29

Day 13: Peace Through the Spirit

  • Verses:
    • Galatians 5:22–23: "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness..."
    • Romans 8:6: "The mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace."
    • John 14:16–17: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate... the Spirit of truth."
    • Romans 14:17: "For the kingdom of God is... righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."
    • 2 Timothy 1:7: "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
  • Reflection:

The Holy Spirit cultivates peace within us, guiding us into God’s truth and presence. As a fruit of the Spirit, peace shapes our hearts to reflect God’s kingdom, where righteousness and joy abound. Advent invites us to yield to the Spirit’s work, allowing His peace to transform our thoughts and actions. This peace empowers us to live boldly, with love and self-discipline, as we navigate life’s challenges. This week, let’s seek the Spirit’s guidance to experience and share His peace.

  • Application:
    • Reflect on how the Holy Spirit has brought peace to your life. Is there an area where you need His guidance and peace?
    • Today, devote some time in prayer, asking the Spirit to fill you with peace.
    • Journal about a moment when His presence calmed you.
    • Share this peace with someone by inviting them to pray or sharing how the Spirit has guided you, encouraging them to seek His transformative peace.
  • Prayer:

Father God, may Your Holy Spirit control, empower, and fill me with Your peace, shaping my heart to reflect Your kingdom. In Jesus' name. Amen.

About this Plan

What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditations

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
