Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people (1 Peter 2:9 NKJV).
Do you exhibit a strong devotion to God, maintaining a distinct separation from worldly, sinful culture?
In today's reading, God calls Israel to be set apart and different from other nations. He commands Israel not to mingle with the pagan nations around them, lest they adopt their immoral practices. God’s prescribed diet for the nation helps to accomplish this end (Deuteronomy 14:1–21). Moses explains, "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for Himself… (Deuteronomy 14:2 NKJV). The Lord is holy and calls His children to flee from the wicked.
In our New Testament reading, Jesus tells His followers to flee from the wicked. He predicts the future activities of the Antichrist who will set the abomination of desolation, which is an idol that comes to life (Revelation 13:11–18). Jesus warns, "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains" (Mark 13:14 NKJV). The Lord desires His children to withdraw from wickedness because we are His chosen people. In the same way, He calls us to flee from our world’s sinful culture and run to Him!
Employment Point: Separate from ungodliness as God’s precious possession.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
