Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world (1 John 4:1 NKJV).
When you hear someone give a message, do you evaluate it through a biblical lens?
In today’s reading in Deuteronomy 13, Moses offers a cautionary tale urging believers not to be misled by self-proclaimed prophets, dreamers, or miracle workers who lead them astray from the true God. Moses emphasizes the need to follow the Lord faithfully, fear Him, obey His commandments, and hold fast to Him. The true servant of God comprehends the importance of walking closely with Him and rejecting idolatry.
Likewise, Jesus issues a warning in Mark 13, advising, “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many” (Mark 13:5-6 NKJV). It's crucial to scrutinize messages, testing them against the Scriptures. Satan aims to lure God's children away from biblical truth onto the path of destruction.
Employment Point: Discern the truth from the lie by evaluating every message by the Bible.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
