Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself (John 12:32 NKJV).
Will you take the opportunity to point people to the One on the cross who offers salvation?
In today’s reading, we encounter a compelling story. The Israelites, grappling with the consequences of their grumbling, find themselves under the attack of fiery serpents. But here's where it gets intriguing—God, in His infinite wisdom, prescribes an unusual remedy. He instructs Moses to fashion a fiery serpent and lift it high on a pole. Those who, in faith, look upon this elevated serpent are healed.
Although it’s not in today’s reading, we fast forward to the New Testament, where Jesus, in conversation with Nicodemus, draws a powerful parallel. He says, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:14–15 NKJV).
The imagery of lifting up, whether it's the serpent on the pole or the Son of Man on the cross, serves as a powerful metaphor. It's an unusual means to bring salvation to the world—a reminder that sometimes, God's methods may appear unconventional, but they carry profound significance. Consider John 12:32 (NKJV), where Jesus declares, "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." The cross, a symbol of death, becomes the focus of salvation—a call to direct the lost to look upon the cross by faith.
In our modern lives, let us echo this unconventional yet life-changing message. Today, let's point people to the cross, the symbol of God's love and the source of eternal life.
Employment Point: Direct the lost to look upon the cross by faith.
