Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you (1 Timothy 4:16 NKJV).
How can you remain pure while impacting the world for Jesus?
In today’s reading, Paul warns Timothy that some would fall away from the faith, deceived by false teachings (1 Timothy 4:1–2). The world’s influence is strong, but we are called to guard our hearts and minds by remaining rooted in Scripture. Centuries earlier, the wise man wrote, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV).
How can you stay pure in a world that pulls you in so many directions? The answer lies in continually filling your heart with God’s Word and allowing it to guide your thoughts and actions.
Employment Point: Guard your heart while remaining in the Scripture for a productive life and ministry.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
