Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV).
Does your spiritual spine need stiffening?
In today’s reading, Jeremiah endured physical punishment and imprisonment for proclaiming God’s truth (Jeremiah 20:2). In the same way, Paul was no stranger to suffering for the Gospel. In his second letter to Timothy, he urged the young pastor not to be ashamed of the Gospel or of Paul’s imprisonment, but to stand firm and share in suffering for Christ (2 Timothy 1:8).
Are you prepared to stand firm in your faith, even when it’s difficult? Remember, God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-discipline. Be encouraged to face opposition with strength, knowing that God equips you with courage and endurance.
Employment Point: Draw upon God’s power to spiritually stiffen your spine during dangerous times.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
