Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Restore us, O God; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved! (Psalm 80:3, 7, 19 NKJV).
How should you restore and maintain a right relationship with God?
The writer of Psalm 80 pleads with his heavenly Father to return the blessing of the Lord upon a disobedient people. Confession of sin begins the restorative process. “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13 NKJV).
Paul, like all sinners, struggled in his walk with God but found victory through the Spirit. In Romans 8, he wrote that living by the Spirit is the key to overcome the flesh. He writes, “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live” (Romans 8:13 NKJV).
Do you obey the Holy Spirit? Do you keep falling into the same sin, or are you having victory? As a pastor, I want to encourage you to confess your sins and rely on the Holy Spirit’s power to live victoriously in your walk with the Lord.
Employment Point: Confess your sin and depend upon the Spirit’s power for victory over the flesh.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
