Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 218 OF 365

Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel (Psalm 78:41 NKJV).

Are those who don’t learn from history doomed to repeat the same mistakes?

Asaph, in Psalm 78, recounts Israel's history of disobedience despite God’s continual provision. Sadly, Israel, who are God’s chosen people, repeatedly forgot His works and wonders (Psalm 78:11). Despite their complaints in the wilderness, God continually extended His mercy by guiding them with a cloud by day and a fire by night (Psalm 78:14).

The lesson is clear: unbelief and forgetfulness grieve God, and He chooses to limit His power in our lives. Trust in God's power and remember His works to avoid repeating past mistakes.

Employment Point: Don’t grieve God by unbelief and limit His vast power.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
