Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 157 OF 365

Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD (2 Chronicles 20:17 NKJV).

What do you do when you are emotionally overwhelmed by the struggles of life?

When overwhelmed by enemies, Jehoshaphat turned to God in prayer (2 Chronicles 20:3-12). God assured him that the battle was His (2 Chronicles 20:15). Like Jehoshaphat, we must turn to God when faced with spiritual battles.

Although not in our reading, Paul advises Christians how to be strong in the Lord, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age...” (Ephesians 6:10-12 NKJV).

So, this week, if you are feeling overwhelmed, take a moment, remember what Jehoshaphat did, and remember that the battle belongs to the Lord.

Employment Point: Turn to God and rely upon Him to defend you.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
