Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 159 OF 365

I have finished the work which You have given Me to do (John 17:4 NKJV).

How can you stay faithful to the Lord as you age?

Uzziah reigned as king over Judah for fifty-two years. He started off strong, doing what was right, and “as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper” (2 Chronicles 26:5 NKJV). However, he struggled with his growing fame. “So his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong” (2 Chronicles 26:15 NKJV). In his pride, Uzziah overstepped his God-given boundaries by attempting to offer incense in the Temple (2 Chronicles 26:16). Despite being king, he did not have the authority to act as a priest, leading to God striking him with leprosy. He should have sought the Lord’s will in prayer, yet he fell into pride and sin.

Let us learn from Uzziah’s folly! Set aside daily time for prayer, asking for humility and guidance to complete your God-given tasks faithfully.

Employment Point: Pray unceasingly to finish life’s journey well.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
