Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

And being in torments in Hades (Luke 16:23 NKJV).
Do you believe in the power of the gospel?
In today's Bible reading, Jesus reveals a glimpse of heaven and hades. He tells of a rich man who ignores a beggar daily at his gate, revealing his disregard for God (Luke 16:20). When the beggar dies, heavenly escorts usher him to Abraham’s bosom, while the rich man suffers torment in Hades upon his death (Luke 16:23). The rich man petitions Abraham to send Lazarus to his brothers as a witness. Abraham responds, “If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead” (Luke 16:31 NKJV). Abraham emphasizes the importance of heeding God’s Word over miraculous signs.
The Word of God, which contains the Gospel, is alive and active and has the power to save souls. Share the Gospel, for it has the transformative power to save souls which are heading towards Hell’s flames!
Employment Point: Trust in the gospel’s power to reach the unsaved.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
