Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Fear God. Honor the king (1 Peter 2:17 NKJV).
Do you honor your authorities?
In today’s reading, we witnessed Saul, Israel’s first king, relentlessly pursuing David, his loyal servant, but David refuses to harm Saul despite the opportunity to do so (1 Samuel 24:6). Recognizing Saul as the Lord’s anointed, David upholds his integrity, refusing to lay a hand on him. David’s actions reflect his trust in God’s timing, as he waits patiently for God to establish his kingdom (Psalm 62:5).
Unlike the unjust steward from our reading in the New Testament who acts selfishly (Luke 16:1-13), David honors both God and Saul.
Today, let's emulate David's example by respecting our authorities and trusting in God’s timing for our lives.
Employment Point: Honor God by respecting His authorities.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
