Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul (Psalm 106:15 NKJV).
Are you walking the narrow path?
God, though invisible, desires His people to trust in His goodness and walk the narrow path of faith. In our Old Testament reading, the Israelites sought a visible king instead of trusting the unseen God. They wanted to walk the broad way, like the other nations, and have a king they could see. They equated a visible king with strength and desired a king like Saul, who stood tall among them (1 Samuel 8:20; 10:23-24). Israel got their request but also experienced “leanness [skimpiness] into their soul” (Psalm 106:15 NKJV).
Today, many choose the broad path, seeking visible gods and solutions instead of trusting in the invisible God and His plan. Yet, Jesus calls us to walk in faith on the narrow path (Luke 13:24). Let us embrace the call to trust in the invisible God and walk the narrow path of faith.
Employment Point: Walk the narrow path through faith in the invisible God.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
