“Our Father… And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one” – praying about spiritual watchfulness and protection.

In this prayer, we admit our vulnerability. We do not ask for a perfect life without any problems – we ask God to keep us faithful, so that when the time of ordeal comes, He will help us not to break, not to get bitter, not to lose heart.

Temptation is not always something evidently sinful. Very often, it comes in the form of frustration, weariness, offense, and the desire to stop and give up. The evil one does not always strike head-on – sometimes he sows despair, separates, weakens faith in the good. And that is why we are in need of God’s protection.

This prayer is not about escaping reality. This prayer is about resilience. About going through even the darkest times – never losing the light. So that evil would not become in us the source of the new evil.

Questions to ask yourself:

What are the biggest temptations I face today: escape, frustration, anger, being cynical?
What steals my hope and trust in God the most today?

Today God wants to protect you even there where you cannot protect yourself.
Admit your weakness and let His power keep you up, when you lack the strength.

Let these prayers become the shield for your heart – and a plea for God’s presence in your struggles:

Father, keep me safe, so that nothing will distract me from spreading Your Kingdom.

Father, let Your protection rest upon my friends – keep them from evil.

Father, free our country from evil people and keep us safe from any evil.

Father, thank You, that we are under Your protection and an enemy cannot break us.
