Marcus Aurelius was a very mighty man, who also knew a thing or two about physical riches. He was also blessed with a good mind, as can be seen by the wisdom he shares with us today. He knew that what a man is passionate about, what he pursues, is where he places his worth. If a man pursues nothing but riches, his worth can only be found in the amount of money in his wallet.

If, on the other hand, a man pursues the real riches of life, the spiritual and never-ending ones, his worth will be found in Jesus. That is where true treasure lies, as today’s Bible verse emphasizes.

So. For today, let us examine ourselves and be honest about where our hearts are. Let us see clearly whether we are spending more time pursuing earthly riches, or if we are on the right track in pursuit of Godly character. Let us conduct an honest assessment of our spiritual “bank accounts” and admit where we are lacking, and take the proper steps to commit ourselves to our future in God’s Kingdom.
