Isaac Newton possessed one of the most intelligent minds in history. He was able to discern and understand the innermost workings of the universe like no one else who came before him. Yet with all that intelligence, he couldn’t figure out mankind. Without the spirit of God, it all seems to be madness and chaos, yet WITH the spirit the secrets of the universe will be opened up to you!

King David had similar thoughts, as you can see in today’s Bible verse, which God wrote through him while he was still a simple shepherd boy. David was given deeper understanding than Isaac Newton, however, but he still couldn’t see the whole picture. He couldn’t quite put a finger on “why man?” 

In the book of Hebrews, the apostle Paul quotes this Psalm, but goes a little further. (Hebrews 2:5-11) He goes on to say that Jesus is bringing us into glory! (verse 10) We were created to be actual sons and daughters of the Living God! Think about that for a while, and all of the possibilities will definitely make you smile.

So, for today, let us meditate on what it actually means to be a son or daughter of God. Let us envision our future with joy and eager expectation. Let us look beyond the madness and chaos of our daily lives, and focus on the one who authors our salvation, and makes us perfect. Let us know, with every fiber of our being, that we belong to the Family of God, and that Jesus finds great joy in calling us so.
