A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The Ages

DAY 32 OF 42

“I would rather work a hundred years to win one battle than play a thousand and be put away a chunk of mud that had never done anything but laugh.”

-George Patton-

General George Patton served not only our country, but the entire world, with his tremendous leadership skills, determination, and grit during some of the most epic battles of World War II. He helped assure that the allied nations received total victory. He knew that these victories would only come by hard work, which he exhibited in everything he did.

Today’s Bible verse speaks of the hard work we must put into our spiritual lives, so that we may receive the ultimate victory of Eternal life! We must fight like the warriors God created us to be and not waste our lives with non-stop frivolous pursuits. Yes, there is a time and a place for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1), and laughter is definitely important to our well-being. (Proverbs 17:22) We must, however, learn to use our time wisely, practice discernment, and be sure we are not losing sight of what really matters in life.

So, for today, let us love to laugh yet keep our proper focus. Let us sharpen our spiritual swords and be ready for our daily battles. Let us walk the straight and narrow path, follow God’s light, and take hold of eternal life.
