A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The Ages

DAY 29 OF 42

“Any man in combat who lacks comrades who will die for him, or for whom he is willing to die, is not a man at all. He is truly damned.”

-William Manchester-

William Manchester was one of the finest biographers of the 20th century, writing magnificent volumes on such figures as Winston Churchill and Douglas MacArthur. He was also a soldier, however, and he knew the unbreakable fact that sacrifice and outgoing concern were the most important attributes of his fellow warriors.

The Bible also makes note of this truth, as can be seen in today’s verse written by King Solomon. God reveals an even greater truth as he continues in verse twelve, which states, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

While it is important to surround yourself with people who are willing to sacrifice, it is even more important that your relationships are further strengthened by the unbreakable cord of God’s spirit. His spirit is what produces the good fruit of life, which is everlasting. (Galatians 5:22-23) This fruit is the true “good return for your work” mentioned in today’s verse.

So, for today, let us examine our closest relationships, and make sure we are exhibiting the fruit of the spirit in all of our interactions. Let us look out for our friends, family members, co-workers, and yes, even our enemies. Let us bind all of our relationships with the unconquerable power of God, and produce the fruit of His everlasting love.

About this Plan

A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The Ages

There is an unbreakable law of history. That which has happened before will happen again, if the same ingredients are present.  Looking at the lessons of history through the lens of God's word will provide us with the best ingredients to give us a God centered life. It is truly a recipe for success!
