A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The AgesSample

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
-Henry Ford-
Henry Ford knew a thing or two about adversity, which is evident from today’s quote. He faced a lot of trials during the pioneer days of the automobile, and even beyond. He recognized the fact that sometimes, if you want to fly, you have to expect to fight the wind. It’s all about perseverance.
Today’s Bible verse from James, the brother of Jesus, illustrates a similar fact. He takes it beyond human understanding, however. He says that we should consider it joy when we face adversity! When our faith is tested, we need to remain confident in God’s promises. He cannot lie! (Titus 1:2) His word is sure!
When our faith is tested, it develops in us a perseverance that can only come in this fashion. God wants us to be warriors who never give up! Isn’t it amazing that God wants to complete our maturity in this way? This is how He perfects us! (James 1:4) Before the first airplane ever took off, a lot of work had to be done, and a lot of adversity had to be overcome. Do you think it should be any easier for children of God to be made perfect?
So, for today, let us count it an honor when we face trials. Let us hold our chin up high and face the wind with the power of God coursing through our spiritual veins. Let us be true-born soldiers of the Living God, and rejoice in His perfecting work always.
