A Book Of Remembrance: Wisdom From The AgesSample

“Sometimes you get the best light from a burning bridge.”
-Don Henley-
Let’s face it. We’ve all burnt some bridges in our lives. Everyone has, at some point, done something to ruin a relationship, whether it be personal, professional, or even family related. Don Henley recognized a very important principle which we would all benefit from if we put it to practice. He not only saw the burned bridge, he saw that light, or learning, could come from the wreckage.
Today’s Bible verse shows the importance of leaving our old selves behind with its corrupt ways. The only way we can leave our old ways behind, however, is if we learn what we did wrong in the past. The mistakes we have made need not haunt us forever. They may have burned us then, but now they can serve as reminders of how not to act in the future. They can actually help us put on the new man of righteousness and holiness! (Ephesians 4:23-24)
So, for today, let us examine the mistakes we have made in the past and view them not as defining moments, but as lessons learned along the pathway of life. Let us realize what didn’t work, and form new ways of thinking and acting. Let us renew our minds, forge new roads, and leave all future bridges intact.
