The facts contained not only in this striking quote, but more so in today’s Bible passage, are extremely troubling. Unfortunately, it is also extremely accurate. We must be very careful whom we accept advice or counsel from in our walk with God. As it says in Matthew 7:15, there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing. 

There are a lot of people in this world who claim to be Christians, but really aren’t. Jesus Himself said that there would be many people who claimed to follow him, but their hearts would be far from Him and His Commandments. (Mark 7:6-10)

The only way we can be sure that the advice we receive from fellow Christians is accurate, is to test their advice against the Bible. This greatest book ever written is actually Jesus Christ in print!

So, for today, let us test the spirits and use discernment in our conversations. (1 John 4:1) Let us pray for God to guide us in every step of our journey, and to protect us from deception. Most of all, however, let us never neglect our Bible studies. Let us strive to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)
