Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15).
Do you turn to heaven's high priest during a temptation?
Jesus currently serves in the role as High Priest. The writer of Hebrews uses the present tense verb "we have" in Hebrews 4:14. He pens, "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God." Our Lord is the preeminent High Priest "since He always lives to make intercession for them" (Hebrews 7:25). Only Jesus who is the perfect High Priest can empathize with our human condition, and yet He never bowed to temptation. His provision is always punctual. "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace," writes the anonymous author, "that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).
Employment Point: Rely upon heaven's High Priest to overcome temptation.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
