Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year One

DAY 314 OF 365

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25).

Why should you trust Jesus to complete His work in you?

Jesus' priesthood trumps Aaron's. Those who served from the line of Aaron were limited by death from ministering as priests. The author of Hebrews pens, "Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing" (Hebrews 7:23). Our Lord comes from a different line than Aaron; His priesthood derives from Melchizedek. He was a king and priest in Jerusalem (Genesis 14) and becomes a type for Jesus’ perpetual ministry since there is no recorded genealogy for Melchizedek's parentage (Hebrews 7:6). By way of example, Jesus comes from this enduring priestly line. Because Jesus is eternally God, His priesthood continues, and He will finish the work of salvation that He's begun in us.

Employment Point: Depend upon God's eternal High Priest to finish His work.

About this Plan
