Have you ever had a moment of commitment? Maybe something big happened in your life, and you think, "That's it - I want to do things differently now." Or you messed up somehow, and you tell yourself, "I will never do this again. I'm going to do better." Maybe you had a mountaintop moment and thought, "This is amazing! Everything is going to be different now".
You commit yourself to do better and make the change, and it goes well for a while. But then life happens, and slowly, but surely you forget the clarity and certainty you had. As that feeling goes away, you start to slip back into old ways of living.
God knows we're prone to this. He knew his people would be prone to this in Exodus 12. Even though they were about to see some of the most incredible miracles in the Bible, he knew they would be quick to forget. So, he sets up a time of remembering so they would never forget what he had done for them.
Think it Over: How can you regularly remember what God has done for you?
