Think of this: God says he was going to strike every firstborn male in Egypt unless the blood of the Passover lamb was on their doorpost. Death was the judgment coming for all the firstborn males, and the only way for them to avoid it was for the sacrificial blood of another to count for them. Does that sound familiar? Think about how this pictures the Gospel.
