Prepare the Way: Passion Students Winter WkndSample

“Remember David and all his self-denial.” Self-denial is a simple summary of the Christian life. It’s saying no to the things that keep you from saying yes to God. There are relationships that lead down the wrong roads. There’s a kind of conversation that pulls us where we don’t want to go. There are habits that end in destruction. Jesus invites us to say no to ourselves to say yes to Him. This kind of self-denial is only possible in seeing how Christ denied Himself for us. He denied comfort in eternity to pick up his cross. He denied life to embrace death. He denied heavenly perfection for broken humanity. Why? Because He cares for us. When we see He denied Himself for us it compels us to deny ourselves from the things that keep us from him.
What areas of your life are keeping you from Christ? Let His love compel you this week to say no to sin and to say yes to Him.
