Prepare the Way: Passion Students Winter WkndSample

The Psalms of Ascent were psalms sung by God’s people as they made the journey to Jerusalem to celebrate annual feasts. They were getting their minds and hearts ready to look to the Lord. They talked about the Lord and to the Lord. They sang about him. They got honest with Him. It’s interesting that the first one begins with the words, “I call on the Lord in my distress.”God’s people in pursuit of God had distress. Can you relate? Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t mean you won’t have problems in life, it changes how you deal with them. We’ve got a Savior in our story. How does the psalmist respond to his stress? He calls on the Lord. Jesus is the solution for every sickness. He’s the answer to every problem, and he wants to hear about yours. How do you handle stress? Where do you turn when life gets hard?
This week when you feel stressed, do what the psalmist did in pursuit of God... call on the Lord.
