Together - Daily DevotionalSample

Given to us
One of the recurring themes of the Bible is that things are given to us by God for our benefit and enjoyment. For example in Genesis He gives us the fruit of the earth as food. Psalm 104:14-15 elaborates that wine gladdens our heart, oil makes our face shine and bread sustains our heart. The Scriptures are given to us for understanding God and His ways. Jesus is given to us that we might be free from the guilt of our sins. Likewise, the Holy Spirit is given to us that our faith might not rest in the dry, dusty halls of academia but in an exciting, living relationship with God where we are not just called to do His will, but empowered by the Holy Spirit to live in partnership with Him (Rom.5:5).
When a loving father gives their child a present it is meant to be unwrapped and enjoyed. Gifts such as a new computer or bike are given to help the child achieve a greater level of ability or exploration. Yet many Christians never truly “unwrap” the gift of the Holy Spirit. Let us enjoy and draw on the Holy Spirit given to us by a loving heavenly Father.
Prayer: Father I thank You for the Holy Spirit given to me. May I ever draw on His joy and His abilities
